Ashlee Simpson smokes and she doesn't want you to know about it. The New York Daily News reports:

Ashlee Simpson begged a photog not to take her picture last week during a cigarette break outside boyfriend Pete Wentz's East Village bar, Angels and Kings. "I don't want my fans knowing I smoke!" she pleaded. "It's so bad, but I just crave nicotine sometimes." (Source)
The paparazzi could take pictures of her smoking meth while clubbing a baby seal WITH a bald eagle and her "fans" wouldn't care at this point (and by "fans" I mean her Dad and Sister). If they've put up with lip syncing, plastic surgery, and bad music they'd certainly look the other way for a little self induced lung cancer. Besides, maybe cigarette tar will actually improve her voice--when she uses it!
